General options

Use this dialog to configure general port settings.

General Options dialog

COM Port

Select the COM port from this list. In some cases, not all the port installed on the server are shown. This happens if the port is not installed correctly, or if the port could not be detected. Please refer to the on-line help for further information.

Enable hardware handshake (RTS/CTS)

Check this field to enable hardware handshaking.

Baud rate

Select baud rate from this list Transmission speed, in bits per second. The speed must match that of the CNC.

Model specific settings

Allow file delete

Check this field to allow CNC operators to delete files on the server.

File delete is not supported on all models.

Allow spaces in directory listing

Check this field to include files with spaces in the directory listing.

Older controls will not accept this.

Disable file receive

Check this field to disable transmission of files from the CNC to the DNC server. This will prevent the operator from accidentally overwriting files on the server.

TNC 406 Type directory lists

Check this field to send directory list in the format used by TNC-406 models.

Limit directory entries (407/415/425)

Check this field to limit directory listings to 256 files.

You should always check this field for TNC models 407/415/425, otherwise the directory listing will be corrupted due to a limitation in the firmware on these models.

List file sizes in bytes

Check this field to list file sizes in bytes. If this field is not checked, file sizes are listed in sectors (1024 bytes).

Limit directory list this many files

Use this field to limit the number of files included in directory lists.

Max directory filename length

Use this field to specify the length of filename on the controls directory list.

Hide longer: Do not include names longer than the selected length.

Cutoff longer: Trims longer names to the selected length.

When selecting cutoff and sending back the file to the PC it will be saved with the shorter name.

Directories

Transmit directory

Use this field to specify how the DNC server selects the transmit directory.

Auto: The server looks for programs in the directories specified on the 'Request directories' setup sheet.

Manual: The operator must specify the transmit directory on the 'Manual' tab in the administration program.

Both: The operator can specify the transmit directory on the 'Manual' tab in the administrator client, or use the 'Request directory' configuration, depending on the setting of the 'Specify transmit directory' field on the 'Manual' tab in the administration client.

Receive directory

Use this field to specify how the DNC server selects the receive directory.

Auto: The server stores programs in the directory specified on the 'File types' setup sheet.

Manual: The operator must specify the receive directory on the 'Manual' tab in the administration program.

Both: The operator can specify the receive directory on the 'Manual' tab in the administrator client, or use the destination directory specified on the 'File types' setup sheet, depending on the setting of the 'Specify receive directory' field on the 'Manual' tab in the administration client.

Failed transfers

Save failed transfers

Check this field if you want to save failed transfers. Failed transfers occurs if the program/file name of an auto received file could not be determined, and no remote request triggered was found.

Failed transfers to keep

Specify the number of failed transfers to keep. Failed transfers are named FAILED_$PORTNAME.xxx. The file with the largest 'xxx' value is the latest failed transfer.
