IMTS 2002 Show a Success
If IMTS is any indication of the current mindset of manufacturers in the
Western Hemisphere the outlook remains positive. While attendance was notably
down from that of past shows, those who showed up were serious about
investigating and purchasing technologies that would help them maintain their
competitiveness in the new global market.
We would be remiss if we did not give a special thank you out to Tom Bentley
of Programming Plus, one of our Midwest resellers, who invested a great deal of
time and money in representing CIMCO at the show. The dedication
of Tom and his entire staff is greatly appreciated.
DNC-Max - the Clear Leader
Put aside all the marketing hype. Put aside all the sales pitches. Put aside
all the personalities. If IMTS did one thing for CIMCO it was provide
manufacturers with the opportunity to see for themselves just how much different
DNC-Max is from the rest of the DNC pack. Not a single company who
stopped by for a demonstration left with any doubt as to what product is
leading the industry in innovation, flexibility, and value.
Partners @ IMTS
CIMCO's business partners had a great deal of success at the show
too. CNC Software was demonstrating the latest capabilities of
Mastercam v9 and was extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of visitors
to their booth in the CAD/CAM Pavilion in the Lakeside Center. The most recent
report from CIMdata, and independant NC research firm, put Mastercam at the
top of both the industrial and educational markets for CAM. CIMCO Edit for
Mastercam, a special OEM version of CIMCO Edit, has been distributed with
Mastercam since v7. We are proud to have such as strong relationship with an
industry leader like CNC Software.
DMG (Gildemeister) had a very busy show demonstrating over 29 CNCs in a
12,000 sq/ft booth in the South Building. The GILDEMEISTER Group, with its
DECKEL MAHO and GILDEMEISTER brands, as well as its Service and Distribution
Company currently has a sales volume of 1,114.2 million Euro, which makes it one
of the world's leading manufacturers of metal cutting machine-tools.
Heidenhain also had a great show. Their booth in the Lakeside
Center was as impressive as usual. Among the products demonstrated at the show
were their CNC Controls, Retrokit DRO's, Encoders, and Guages. CIMCO has an
outstanding relationship with Heidenhain. CIMCO FTP is distributed world-wide
with every Ethernet-based CNC Control Heidenhain ships.
CGTech, makers of Vericut, were also exhibiting in the Lakeside Center.
Located in the CAD/CAM pavilion CGTech, like Mastercam, have become fixtures at
IMTS. CGTech demonstrated the latest version of Vericut and the entire suite of
Vericut products including their toolpath optimization tool OptiPath(R) and the
Vericut Module: Machine Simulation. When it comes to CNC-Code verification and
machine simulation CGTech is in a league all their own.
Digi International products were displayed alongside DNC-Max in the
Programming Plus booth.
In the end, if you missed IMTS 2002 you missed a good show.
