Introducing CIMCO Edit Core and CIMCO Edit Ultra
As of today, September 1st 2026, we are introducing two new CIMCO Edit product levels: CIMCO Edit Core and CIMCO Edit Ultra.
The new product structure reflects the significant development of CIMCO Edit over recent years, particularly within backplotting, solid simulation and NC program verification.
CIMCO Edit Core
CIMCO Edit Core replaces CIMCO Edit Standard and provides a complete solution for professional NC program editing and toolpath visualization.
Core combines CIMCO Edit’s advanced NC editing capabilities with full backplotting, giving programmers the tools needed to edit, analyze and verify NC programs efficiently before they reach the machine.
Key capabilities include:
- Advanced NC editing
- Full backplotting and toolpath visualization
CIMCO Edit Ultra
CIMCO Edit Ultra replaces CIMCO Edit Professional and becomes our premium solution for advanced NC program simulation and verification.
Ultra includes the high-performance GPU-based Solid Simulation and CAM integrations available in CIMCO Edit Professional, while adding advanced verification capabilities previously available only with the Machine Simulation Add-on.
These include:
- Collision Detection Reporting – identify collisions between tools, workpieces and fixtures before programs reach the shop floor.
- Enhanced Safety Checks – detect rapid-to-stock and holder-to-stock collisions during simulation.
- Over-Travel Limit Reporting – identify movements outside defined machine travel limits.
- Advanced Stopping Conditions – automatically stop simulation at selected events such as collisions or travel limit errors for closer inspection.
Machine Simulation remains available
CIMCO Edit Ultra provides advanced toolpath verification and collision reporting directly in Backplot. For users that require simulation of the complete physical machine, the Machine Simulation Add-on remains available and supports the use of detailed 3D machine models as part of the verification process.
Automatic upgrade for existing customers
Existing CIMCO Edit customers do not need to take any action.
Customers with an existing CIMCO Edit Standard license will automatically qualify for CIMCO Edit Core and will gain access to the new features when the latest version of CIMCO Edit is installed.
Customers with an existing CIMCO Edit Professional license will automatically qualify for CIMCO Edit Ultra, gaining access to the new verification and collision detection capabilities when the latest version of CIMCO Edit is installed.
With Core and Ultra, we are making it easier to choose the right CIMCO Edit solution while continuing to expand the tools available for professional NC programming, simulation and verification.
