Installation

To install MDC-Max v6 follow the instructions below.

1. Locate installation files

MDC-Max v6 is distributed as part of the CIMCO Software package. DNC-Max, NC-Base, MDC-Max, and CIMCO Edit are all included in one single file but can be installed seperately.

If you received the CIMCO Software package on a CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM on the computer's DVD unit and the installation program should start automatically. If not, open the CIMCO Software directory on the CD to locate the installation file. If you received the CIMCO Software package via e-mail link, follow the link to start the single file download and save it in a temporary directory.

2. Run installation program

Start the installation program by clicking on CIMCO Software setup program (CIMCO_6XXXX.exe):

CIMCO Software setup program.

3. Select components

Now follow the instructions on the screen. If this is a client installation you just need to select MDC-Max Client on the selection dialog. MDC-Max is a client program that needs Database Server and DNC-Max Server in order to work properly, so those products have to be installed in any server or work PC in the network (or in the local computer)

If you have purchased a license for CIMCO Edit, or wish to install an evaluation version of CIMCO Edit, you should also select CIMCO Edit from the list.

Wait for the installation to complete and click the Finish button to exit the setup wizard.

4. Copying your keyfile

MDC-Max v6 does not run as Demo Version. If you wish to install an evaluation version, please contact your CIMCO local reseller which will provide you with a temporary keyfile.

Once you have received the keyfile, it should be installed by double-clicking on the file "(name)-license.key" after the installation is completed. This opens the CIMCO License Key Manager. Click on the button Install Keyfile to install the keyfile.

5. Starting the client for the first time

When the installation is completed, and you have copied your keyfile, you are ready to start MDC-Max for the first time. Click on the MDC-Max Client icon on you desktop or in the CIMCO v6 program group.

MDC-Max v6 Client V6.

When the client is starting, it tries to connect to the CIMCO NC-Base Server on the local computer. If the connection is not possible (Database Server stopped or not installed) you will get a notice dialog. Close the dialog and the MDC-Max Client interface will show up.

Verify that your company name is shown in the Licensed to field in the About box or in the lower right corner of the program window. If not, the keyfile was not installed correctly. Please repeat the point no. 4 in order to install the keyfile correctly.

If the database connection was not possible on Client startup, then next step is to define the connection to the Database Server - all menu options in MDC-Max Client are disabled (grayed out) until the connection is established. Open the Database Setup (Setup / Database Setup) and use the NC-Base Server name field to specify the computer name or IP address where CIMCO NC-Base Server is installed. Click OK to save the changes and close the configuration dialog, and restart the Client to activate the changes.
