Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/Server

When the CIMCO NFS Server is started on a Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/Server computer, it is running as a service.

By default the service uses the System Account, which is used by the operating system and by services that run under Windows NT. The system account is an internal account, which does not show up in User Manager, cannot be added to any groups, and cannot have user rights assigned to it. On the other hand, the system account does show up on an NTFS volume in File Manager in the Permissions portion of the Security menu. By default, the system account is granted full control to all files on an NTFS volume.

The system account cannot be used by the CIMCO NFS Server if some of the shared directories are on a network drive or if the system account is removed from the file system permissions of the exported directory. In these cases you must specify which account the NFS server should use.

Specifying the service logon

If you choose to modify the service logon for the NFS server, the following dialog appears:

Windown NT Service logon.

System Account

This is the default setting. It is disabled if any network drives are exported.

Account / Domain / Password

Enter the logon account, domain and password. Make sure the logon account has access to all exported directories (both on the local file system and network drives).

If any of the exports are on a Novell server, leave the domain field blank.
