A Tool Probe is usually an optional piece of equipment on a CNC machine. It may consist of a laser (non-contact reading) or a Probe that the machine will move the tool down to touch. Tool probes allow fast, accurate, safe, and easy tool setting and are the preferred method: if you machine is equipped with a probe.
Because of the wide variety of tool probe types it is not possible to provide specific instructions in their use here. Please have your instructor or shop supervisor show you how to use the probe on your machine.
