New features and support for Okuma in Machine Simulation (videos)

CIMCO Machine Simulation is rapidly evolving with improvements being made on a daily basis. In this post we will focus on significant news that we know will interest you. Stock removal, a new Machine Configuration Editor and the implementation and support for Okuma machines.

Read on below – and please visit our product page for more information, contact us directly for a trial license or for an informal talk about how CIMCO Machine Simulation can benefit your company.

Stock removal

CIMCO Machine Simulation now includes the ability to allow users to simulate the removal of stock material based on NC code. The Stock Removal feature, along with our improved model shading and rendering, ensure a precise and clear view of machine, tool and stock model. By zooming in, you can now see every little detail and see exactly where and why collisions or other undesired movements occur.

There are multiple options to create the stock. Users have the ability to import an external STL, manually define the stock and also enable automatic scanning that reads a specified value direct from the NC code and inputs a stock based on those values. The resulting stock can be exported as an STL.

Machine Configuration Editor

A new and dedicated Machine Configuration Editor has been developed in place of the old machine setup dialog. The Machine Configuration Editor enables users to build their own machine configurations to use within Backplot and Machine Simulation. Users can add geometry to individual machine components and determine the axis components of the machine, travel limits, feedrates and tool change position.

Simulation of Okuma machines

Okuma has granted CIMCO the rights to include their machines within Machine Simulation. We are currently in the process of configuring and implementing their machines into our software and testing has begun with local shops.
